Our Story

Founded in 2024 by Russell Collier, Southport Tea traces its roots to a childhood of simple tea experiences, which expanded dramatically in 2007 when Russell and his wife, Maggie, discovered a local tea shop offering a vast array of loose leaf teas.

Over 10 years later, Russell and Maggie were settled in Kenosha, Wisconsin, raising two children and still savoring loose leaf tea. After over two decades in the fast-paced world of financial technology in Chicago, Russell found comfort in the occasional evening cup of tea. In 2024, inspired by his passion, Russell founded Southport Tea to create a welcoming space for others to explore and enjoy loose leaf tea, showing that it’s simpler than it seems.

The name "Southport" honors Kenosha's historical roots as Wisconsin's southernmost area along Lake Michigan.

At Southport Tea, we offer a hands-on experience with sniffing jars, daily samples, and knowledgeable staff to guide your tea journey. Our goal is to foster a deep appreciation for tea in the Kenosha community.
